From her early days picking up a stick to competing at the highest level for Australia, Neasa’s journey has been shaped by hard work, focus, and an unwavering commitment to improving her game. With her rapid pace and never give up mindset, she continues to make her mark as an exciting talent in the Hockeyroos lineup.
We threw a few rapid-fire questions her way to get a glimpse into the person behind the player… and yes, we started with the important stuff, coffee. We all run on caffeine over here in VOODOO HQ!

Why do you use VOODOO?
It’s an Australian brand that has evolved with the game. I love the modern graphics and designs. The team has always looked after me and I’m super grateful!
What about the game of hockey do you love? This can be on field or off field.
I love the competitive nature of the game and I enjoy being challenged at training and in games. The friends I’ve made along the way have always kept me in the game as well.
Looking back, what’s the single piece of advice you’d give your younger self when you first started playing?
Cliche but, focus on the basics and have fun.
What has been your biggest challenge you have overcome?
Early in my career I suffered from labral tears in my hips and stepped away from hockey. Rehabbing my hips and deciding to give hockey another go was a big turning point for me. I had to learn how to manage my body and decide if this was a path I wanted to take.
What is your favourite memory on the pitch to date?
My Hockeyroos debut in Hobart against Argentina.
Outside of hockey what do you enjoy spending your time doing?
I love doing anything outdoors, especially hiking and the beach.
What do you wish to see for Australian hockey domestically and internationally and what is required to get there?
Growth in our domestic competitions such as hockey one so the sport of hockey is as big as AFL and other sports. Growth in the publicity and marketing will definitely help and continuing to make the game more skilful and exciting.
Who got you into hockey and at what age?
I played lots of sports growing up and we had a hockey club close to home. My great grandmother played hockey in Collie. I started playing when I was 6.
What club did you first start playing for?
Melville Hockey Club in Western Australia.

What’s the weirdest superstition, ritual, or pre-game habit you’ve ever had or witnessed on the team?
Someone had to brush their teeth before each game
