Hear from Lexie, known for her smooth skills and eye for goal, she's always a dangerous attacking presence on the field!

We threw a few rapid-fire questions her way to get a glimpse into the person behind the player…

Why do you use VOODOO?
I love the feel and power of the sticks and the support from the Voodoo Team

What about the game of hockey do you love?  This can be on field or off field.

I love the community I get to be a part of and all the opportunities that brings, and there is always something new to learn so I am always challenging and pushing myself to be better.

Looking back, what’s the single piece of advice you’d give your younger self when you first started playing?
Making the most of the present- I’ve had so many situations where I am always worried about the next thing (next selection, winning, etc.) and have forgotten to enjoy the moment.

What has been your biggest challenge you have overcome?

Facing so many injuries and non selections I have had moments where I have lost belief and confidence in myself - continuing to push forward and make the most of what I have has taught me a lot of gratitude and how to embrace other parts of my life / have balance

What is your favourite memory on the pitch to date?
Winning with the Thundersticks team in 2024 and debuting for Australia in Holland.

Outside of hockey what do you enjoy spending your time doing?
I enjoy spending time at the beach, with friends and jumping into my creative side with photography, videography and writing

What do you wish to see for Australian hockey domestically and internationally and what is required to get there?
It would be great to see more people get involved in the sport, and encourage a bigger fan base. Continuing to make efforts to do clinics/ talks to gain interest, and promote the sport online in more fun and engaging ways.

Who got you into hockey and at what age?
My dad’s side of the family are all big hockey lovers and my dad had me playing from around 5 years old. 

What club did you first start playing for?
I played juniors for Manly Warringah Hockey club in Sydney.

Describe your playing style in three words.
Exciting, ruthless, smart.

What’s the weirdest superstition, ritual, or pre-game habit you’ve ever had or witnessed on the team?
The only thing I do religiously is he wear my shoes to the field - my dad use to always make me so I didn’t forget to bring them and I have ever since.

Would you rather fight a horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?
100 duck sized horses
