VOODOO Voyage: 001: Lachlan Sharp
Welcome to the first stop on VOODOO Voyage, our new sit-down series where we catch up with VOODOO athletes to talk hockey, life, and everything in between.
Hear from Australian midfielder and long time VOODOO endorser Lachlan Sharp. A Kookaburra gun and midfield maestro known for his class, vision, and ability to control the tempo of the game.
We put him through a few rapid-fire questions to get a glimpse into the person behind the player… and yes, we started with the important stuff, coffee. We all run on caffeine over here in VOODOO HQ! ☕️

What do you wish to see for Australian hockey domestically and internationally and what is required to get there?
I want to see a strong, professional domestic league in Australia with real visibility, and for Australia to consistently win on the international stage. To get there, the sport needs more funding, better exposure, clear development pathways, and stronger support for athletes. Ultimately, making hockey a viable career in Australia will drive long-term success.

My family I started playing at age 4
What club did you first start playing for?
Zig Zag HC in New South Wales
Describe your playing style in three words
Quick, simple, team-first

No unusual superstitions or pre-game rituals come to mind.
And lastly, because we had to throw in an oddball Q here...🤣
Would you rather fight a horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?
100 duck sized horses
Thanks Lachi for jumping into the hot seat and giving us a glimpse behind the curtain. From early mornings with a small latte to pulling the strings in midfield on the world stage, it’s a reminder that the journey is never linear, it’s built on resilience, perspective, and a genuine love for the game.
After setbacks with injury and concussion, Lachi’s response has been nothing short of elite. Back doing what he does best, currently competing in Germany, testing himself in the Bundesliga, and recently stepping onto the stage at the EHL Finals, this is what it looks like when class meets character.
And that’s exactly what VOODOO Voyage: From the Field is all about. The stories behind the sticks. The people behind the performance.
We’re just getting started.
Stay tuned as we continue the journey with more of our VOODOO Endorsers.
